Polyurethane Bushing Lube

Anybody have a take on what's the best lube for puly bushings? I did a web search and saw a lot of people recommending white lithium grease on a ricer board, and whatever else I think about ricers they do frequently use poly bushings, so hopefully they would know, but this is my go to source when I need to know a real answer.

Energy Suspension sells a teflon based lube specifically for poly bushings.  It's very thick and it tends to stay put unlike most greases, including white lithium.  I have used it on a few customer vehicles, and have never had anyone complain about squeaks.  I think it's pretty good stuff.

Thanks for the info, quagmire. I was concerned that white lithium seems pretty thin.

Definitely too thin, it'll be okay for awhile but eventually it will all squeeze out and get noisy.  Silly ricers.  And it sucks since most of the bushings aren't greasable after they are installed and poly does squeak if it isnt lubed really well.  I believe it is called Formula 5 prelube or something like that.  I know Energy Suspension sells it, and their bushing kits come with a small packet of it too.

I have just finished placing the last polyurethane (try spelling that when you are drunk) bushing in my car so it is 100%  black poly. Energy Suspension provide tubes of silicon grease in each bushing packet so you apply that lube liberally on the pivot points of the bushing before assembly. Make sure you do it as you will squeak like hell early on and then chew the bushings out faster than normal.

I know exactly what you mean. I have all poly in the back, which was installed when I didn't have a house, or a garage. I gave the poly lube to the installer, but I don't think he used it.  It's loud as hell. After I finish the front I've going to pull and lube the back.

the Energy suspension lube is slightly thicker & very similar to honey , it stays in there

I've always used the stuff provided with the bushings and had pretty good results with it.

You also could drill a small hole through the bushing and use a needle or add a zerk to the mount to allow future greasings.
