    Started Working on 70 Challenger

    Well, I finally got the garage heat system functioning (radiant heat is wonderful), so I put the first 2.5 hours of what will most likely be a few thousand hours (or at least seam like it).  I just removed a bunch of interior items, headliner and outside trim.  The car needs front frame rails and bunch of other items.  I'll try to get some pics and post them in the Restoration catagory.  But the coolest thing that got me excited was getting the side window (or at least trying) out of the car and seeing the little scat pack bee.  I'll have to keep that as some incentive.

    Ok here it is.  This car appears to have been hit hard in the PS front.  Damage included front frame rails (now cut off), firewall, cowl side (where door bolts too), floor pan and part of a rocker.  Also has a caved in roof that appears to have had another car stacked on it.  The rest of the car is pretty solid requiring some minor patches behind the wheels and a small patch in the trunk.  Replacement panels will include front frame rails, inner fenders, torsion bar cross member, cowl side panel, firewall (if I can't bang it out), front floor pans, a-pillar, and right side of cowl.  Car is originally a 440 U code, auto ordered with a 4.10 dana and is nicely optioned.  That is original paint and color combination which will be restored.

    great looking project. If you are replacing the cowl, make sure you do your homework and document the original stamp on the cowl. Lots of people spend a lot of money on restoring cars like yours, and without fender tag, cowl and rad support stampings, you will be scrutinized to death.  :2cents:

     Well, it also looks like you got your rear quarter window out before I got the chance to look for those pics, and refresh my memory  :bricks1:

    Really looking forward to see the progress pics of that once, and soon to be beautiful, one of a kind Chally  :2thumbs:

    Yep thats the original stripe color.  One of three EF8/V9J cars on the Hamtramck registry.  I didn't get the rear side window out yet.  Will work on it some tonight I guess.  I will only replace the PS side of the cowl to preserve the numbers.  The cowl is pretty bashed in up to the air intake screen.  The rest of the cowl is fine.  I also have a build sheet.  Unfortunately, the radiator core support was discarded before I got the car.
