Rear Quarter Window Runner
« on: February 05, 2009 - 12:54:06 PM »
Is the rubber/felt for the vertical runner that guides the rear of the quarter window available from anyone?  My passenger side is rotted and the driver side seems to have collapsed and interferes with the window movement.

Looking specifically for pieces to fit a '71 'Cuda.

No, it's the one buried inside the quarter panel.  I couldn't find a pic of one, but this is where it's supposed to be.  If some cars came without, does this mean I don't need it?

So, CP, can I take mine out?  They're a PITA and the window is already guided in two places.

well on the last car I was working on the window sat very twisted without the guide in place , the later cars had a different system , so if you have them I wouls say no , leave them in place , possibly some thin adhesive weather strip could be used in the guide , I have some here that has a heavy plastic coating on one side which would work perfectly

Not having a 70 I can only imagine what your referring to. I had a 240Z that used heavy felt in a window guide. We sell a similar part that goes in clothes dryers, about an inch wide 2ft long 1/4" thick, if you want I can send you one & see if it can be adapted.

Yes.  Is the rubber stripping available?  If not, I may do something like CP suggested.

Brooks,
I'll check out that pile of window regulators / tracks I showed you. Maybe there is a good rail with the guide. I'll let you know.

I bought some from year one and cut the length to match. Then I use some glue and held the strips in place with a piece of pvc.I tape this up for a night and it worked great.
