2008 Challenger at BJ

Well I was close The 2008 #1 Challenger went for  $400,000.00. I predicted 250 to 325. It was  bought by Craig Jackson himself. Maybe he felt bad because it wasn't getting much action. But if you really think about it--$400,000.00 for a car that has a sticker price of $40.000.00 is kinda crazy. Yes I know that it is the #1 car but still it not that big of a deal. Then Mike Ashley NHRA funny Car went for chump change of $135,000 when it would cost twice that much to build. At least I could see that not bringing much because it has limited use. You couldn't fire that mother up and take it to the local cruise. Overall I think the Mopar were very low. Hemi-Cuda's going for 150,000.00. That's a hell of a deal for someone who has the money and can hold on to it for a few years till the prices go back up--which I think they will. It could be just me but I don't think there were that many Mopar there to begin with. I think after last years fiasco they decided to hold on to them for a while longer.

That hemi cuda was a brown on brown auto car, where as the black 4 speed hemi cuda went for 245k. THe color and options on that car kept it down.

I agree and make it straighter it would have gone higher but still not what it should have gone for.  I hope we find out some more about the sale of these cars and what they really should bring.

I was disappointed in the amount of time the Mopars were given on the block overall.  The Shelby's and some others were given WAY too much time and the mopars were moved along pretty quick.  The old Mopars might have brought more if they were given the extra time and "hype" as some of the others.  The new Corvette ZR1 was on the block for 12 minutes. I timed it myself.  If they had ran it across in a couple of minutes, it would have went for way less.

That was a big issue where they would stop the auction and tell about the car and what a deal it was. Then go on with the auction getting more bidders involved and it gave the current bidders time to figure out how hard it might be to come across another car like this one or even find one. Some people even had time to make phone cell phone calls. It gave certain cars a advantage on the autction block as far as getting more money for the car.

The whole ZR1 auction was a joke.  I never even saw another bidder other than the one that won the auction.  Apparently he had #0003 of the very first Corvettes.  I don't think that car was even up for bid. It seemed like he just threw out $1M and it was his.

He's a big time Chevy dealer who has a ton of money. He upped his own bid from 900K to 1 million. It's for charity so why do you care that he upped his bid. You could have outbid him if you wanted it.

It's not meant as a knock on the buyer, it's just like the whole thing was set up as a publicity event.  That's fine, and it's great for the charity, but this is supposed to be an auto auction.  If they want to turn it into a charity event then go for it, but send the real cars somewhere else.

     Russo and Steele  might become the dominant player before too much longer if B-J can't get back to its roots.

Yep, it was almost as bad as last year , most every time a Mopar was about to cross the stage they would break to some commercial. Speaking of commercials,.................we know Ford made at least one for this years auction.
