1971 Challenger RT project
« on: January 21, 2008 - 09:21:40 PM »
71 Challenger RT. Vin #JS23xxxxxxxxx. Originally a 340/auto car (one of just over 700 made). Wood grain steering wheel in excellent condition, Rallye dash in excellent condition, console in vg condition. TA steering box (looks brand new). Gills intact.

This car is rough, but I have seen worse. Just too much project for me right now. Comes with extra roof skin, two extra doors, 3 fenders, two hoods (not TA or RT hoods!). Two sets of bumpers, grill, tail lights and housing. All interior.

Floors are solid, trunk has some pinholes, will need lower quarters replaced. MOSTLY SOLID. All glass is good (extra doors have glass as well).

$10k or make me an offer. You wont hurt my feelings.

Pics tomorrow.

Email or call me for more info. Car is in Edgewood, NM.

Also have several 440 blocks/steel cranks/etc for sale..

Cool car.  I love those 71 340 cars.  Good luck with the sale.   Last 71 340 R/T I bought cost me $700.00 - just ask challenger6pak.  I guess that was about 10 years ago...

$700!!?  :wow:

Working on finding the fender tag. I have paperwork with the fender tag written on it, but have yet to find the tag itself! (the previous owner passed away, so getting info has been very hard).

What I remember is it is a power steering, power drum brake car.. 340 auto, vinyl top, rallye dash, console car.. I will dig out the sheet that had the id tag breakdown and post the information.

Yeah $700 was a pretty good deal even back then.  I spent about 3 years redoing the car and was very pleased with the results.  The car ended up at the Volo Car Museum for awhile.  The color combo was pretty cool - EW3 with a B5 Blue interior.  I found a date coded 340 for it as well.  The new owner put the Cragars on it.

It is a real wonder what divorce can do.  I had days to come up with cash or loose my house.  I am still have the house.  The R/T saved it.  I even threw in a rust free cowl for the $700. A few days before I traded Gary a 70 Convertible Challenger rolling shell for a Ram Charger so I would have wheels. I originally got the vert from him.

Good luck with your sale atomic.

Actually, I am LOOKING for a 67-69 Barracuda or 67-70 Dart. I have a 65 Sport Fury III, but might sell it off too.
