727 converter question

I also have been shopping around for a Stall converter and have been noticing all this lock up non-lockup converter lingo and it is not really making any sense to me the more i keep reading. They say non lock up converters will not work on lock up transmissions and vise versa?? so how can you tell what tranny you got. I got the Tranny out of a 1970 Chrysler Newport with a 383. is there anyway to identify it or did i just read to much?? it looks like i want to buy a non lock up converter but i dont want to buy it till this all clears up.

also what RPM speed do you guys recommend ??
i have got a 440 that is about 10:1 and a .509 MP Cam with 3.55 gears and 255/60-15's on the back.
i was looking into about the 2400 rpm range is that ok for my application??
also what is a stock big block converter rpm range. that might help me too.....

From my questions here it's obvious I'm no " big time gear head", I've been told for my 440 build using the 727 with a .484 cam the 2400 stall will be OK, but I would think that with the .509 you will need something a little higher in the rpm range, maybe 3500? Sounds like a fun ride your building, fun isn't it,lol

i really dont know yet. i have yet to drive it. well i have drivin it on and off the trailor going here and going there but it is not finished yet but it will hit the street this year for sure. it was resently painted at the end of last summer and now i am waiting for some heat around here to finish it up..

will a non lock up fit my tranny? how can i tell what style will work. i want to go with a non lock up.
also i have been looking at 3000 rpm stalls so that works out good.
