Front frame connector/radiator pics
« on: January 28, 2008 - 09:26:06 AM »
With the front XV frame connector tucked up on top of the lower rad. support. The stock radiator is too tall. Anybody have any pics or ideas to help? What have others done?Mayby cut out some of the factory support and have the connector drop down more?I don't mind if you see it. I'm considering an aluminum rad. that is longer and not so tall. What type of clearance issues are there with the alterkation?  Thanx. :clueless:

Thanks for the heads up on this. I was interested in getting one.

On their website, it says not for 426 Hemi. So I e-mailed them and asked what differences there were for it and they never returned my e-mail with an answer.

I did the front frame connector by myself but it is samekind as the XV sells. I also tried to find a way to make the connector under the original support so that the original sized radiator would fit. It is possible to mount it under the brace but a) it doesn't look good and b) it's bit hard to attach to the front rails. You need to cut some of the original support away.

Here are some pics from that area:

Ok, I've got to ask ... Is that a drive shaft you are using for part of your rotisserie?  Got to see more pictures of it!

The updated XV radiator support comes with two spacers if you want to remove your lower support and place their support lower to clear factory radiators. I'm sure they would send them to you, they are just two 2 inch pieces of the same square tubing the support is made out of. I don't really care for the extra drop showing in front either.

On the Hemi question I think that refers to their upper support that ties both fender aprons to the firewall. I don't think it clears the dual quad or six pack air cleaners.

Thanks :2thumbs:  Yeah,I saw those extensions to lower the brace. XV pics show the factory brace removed.I'm not quite sure what to do...  Just run the brace lower?  Or hide it and get a shorter/wider rad. ?  I'll play with it and post up some pics.

Heres what it says on the rad support.

426 HEMI Motors & Shaker/Six-Pack air cleaner packages have yet to be validated for use with the XV Engine Compartment Brace.

you're right.

 no it's not a drive shaft eventhough it really looks like one. It's a part of old hydraulic cylinder tube with flanges welded on one end of it. My dad has a bussiness which builds hydraulic cylinders so that's why most of my "special tools" are made from cylinder tubings or rods.

And yes, It would work with spacers if you remove the original support butI decided to use aftermarket aluminium radiator anyway so for me the shorter height is not a problem. For more stock appearance I can paint the radiator in black with radiator paint.
