Painted Grill?
« on: February 06, 2008 - 05:37:50 PM »
I was thinking of painting my grill and headlight bezels black.....I've seen quite a few cuda's like that and was wondering a few things;

a.) what do you guys think of it

b.) could I just an ordinary black spray paint or something else?

Thanks!  :feedback:

I wouldn't use spray paint.  It will start to chip and peel off in like a years time and will really start to look bad.

But I personally have seen a few cuda's with black grilles and I don't really like it.  It blacks everything out and you can't see the design of the grille.

I personally like the look.  It came that way on AARs and th M46 scoop cars.  I am not sure if regular old spray paint would work, but I would probably use real automotive paint for durability.  I have bounced the idea around myself, but will probably stick with the Argent.  If you black it out, make sure you post pics.

I'd try for a good dark grey.

Just for those that don't know, guys his grille is currently body color - blue. I'd think a nice dark grey would help the look out

You could leave the grille and do something like this to your hood. :dunno:
1970 Barracuda   (O^--^===|===^--^O)
1971 Barracuda   (O O {]{]{]|[}[}[} O O)
1970 Challenger  (O O [======R/T=] O O)

I like the totally blacked out grills, but the headlights ruin the effect.

I don't know if they are still available or not, but I used to have a set of headlights on my Military Blazer that turned black when they were off. It was a totally cool look, and would really complete a blacked out Cuda grill.

I painted mine a "Stainless" color.  Slightly darker than Argent. I agree...A lighter colored grille would pop more on the blue. :2cents:    Helps the rallye wheels out.
