« on: January 28, 2008 - 01:46:55 PM »
Where can I find this information?  I'm discussing the weight of sweptlines vs the cars.  Small blocks and big blocks.  Thanks!

I've seen the E body weight vary so much it's ridiculous  :clueless:
Here's an article from the Dec. 1993 issue of "Performance for the Chrysler Car Enthusiast" magazine that pegs it at 4,080  :22yikes: :scared:

I have personally weighed mine when she was on the road.

I don't know how they come up with some of those numbers.
My '73 Cuda all stock 340 Auto 8 3/4 rear with spare tire & jack assy , 1/2 tank of fuel , aluminum intake & headers is 3495 lbs. weighted it many times at 2 different tracks...stock intake is 51lbs,  my intake is 18lbs.. add 33 more lbs that makes it 3528 lbs..... go figure :clueless:

Yes, and purposely so. Back in the day of weight breaked super stock racing, factory claimed weight was as important as factory claimed horsepower. You could sand bag the HP and inflate the weight and set yourself up in a more favorable position within a class.

I wonder if the weight info was with a full tank of gas and with a driver?  They may have used gross vehicle weight vs curb weight.  :dunno:  :clueless:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

More safety crap. The later year Chally's had a steel bar thru the middle of the door for one thing. Fugly large bumper guards. I'm sure other things too.

...and reinforcement behind the bumpers, extra body bracing, plus my favorite-a huge 1/4" steel plate right under the rear side windows.

My small block 74 Chall weighs in just over 3600. It is the porkiest hot rod I own.
