The Wife is always right and even when she is wrong she is right.  At least that is what mine tells me.  She also says that if I always agree with her then I will always be right too.

You read my mind.  I'm going to tell her everyone thought she was nuts.  But, since I value her opinion, I'll go ahead and paint them to see how it looks.   

I'm starting to think grey/silver might look good also.  The black might be too much, want the spokes to stand out.

I went ahead and painted them gun metal grey.  It's a dark grey that matches the front cailpers.  Pics were taken at dusk so they're not the greatest.

Told the wife you guys said red was factory correct.   
She replied, "I never said it wasn't right, it just doesn't look good".

 I'm happy with the results, thanks for all the input.

Yup, I would either paint them black or hight temp gray. That look is exactly why I will get 4 wheel disc if I ever go bigger than 15x7 rallye wheels on my car.
