As I put my car back together, I'd like to add a few custom touches that can easily be reversed. I really like the look of the headlights on some of the new luxury vehicles. The lights that are perfectly clear with no lines in the glass, chrome reflectors, HID bulbs, etc. I think an old Cuda would look really cool with those type of lights.

I was just wondering if there are reasonably priced kits/bulbs that can be installed in older vehicles.

We've discussed this in some other threads; if you were already running one of the 7" halogen conversions, the HID style bulb would plug into the globe housing. However, the reflector in the globe isnt made for HID and it can be blinding to other drivers. Ideally, there would be late model vehicle that had something close to the 7" globe so it would fit and look correct in the grille. Would be cool to find a bi-xenon application for regular and high beam functions that fits the bill with a motorized projector lens but I haven't seen anything close.

I would like to put CCFL halos in my halogen globes but I have yet to see one that you can open up, all I have seen are 1-piece glass.

Check out www.hidplanet.com. Those guys are doing all sorts of custom stuff and they anlayze output, light patterns, cut off, etc. I'm sure the new Challenger will ship with HID's. Might be a possiblity there

This guy appears to be running fixed HID projectors in the ouboard lights, but also has the fiber optic style halos like late model beemers

these look pretty cool http://www.racinglab.com/rodicutsebeh1.html they are made for the h4 bulb ( known in the 21st century as a 9003 ) theres all sorts of xenon or whatever sorta bright bulbs you want available.

yes, there's lots of those H4 conversion kits that will upgrade your 7" sealed beam to halogen style bulb. That's what I am running but my globe doesn't have the built-in glare shield. That's similar to what I am running and you could plug a HID bulb with ballast into but you will find it pretty annoying to oncoming traffic.

Those globes you posted the picture of......... are rthey the same as you are running or do guys have access to the domed or curved faced globes in a H4 like the orignal curved lense sealed beams ?

I'm running h4's too 90w/100watters. HID was always too spendy for me, spent $25 on my H4 swap a couple years ago.

Yes, thats the same thing as I am running but it is all glass and only has an opening in the back for the halogen style bulb to clip in.

Those guys in San Antonio did a second restomod Coronet the sme way. I should call them and find out what they are. I bet they're just halogens but that projector they are runing sure looks interesting.

I emailed Steve Enochs and he replied regarding the cool SuperBees. The outboards are indeed functional xenon HID's from a Depo kit for early E36 BMW. However, they are 5 3/4" and smaller than the 7" used on Ebody. I found this thing though. Talk about putting bug eyes on your fish!!!

I just ordered this exact H4 from this guy. but in 5 3/4''. I got the upgraded super blue bulbs too.. I will let you all know how it goes.

I put two sets of Carello headlights in my Challenger years ago; we ordered them as replacements for some Italian car around 1984 (can't remember what type) but they were perfect sealed beam replacements. They looked a lot like those units in the picture except that the low-beam H4 units did have the shield inside the unit that the bulb fit behind. They were spectacular compared to sealed beams and even the early halogen sealed beams that were available. The H1 high beams were also excellent. The provided that "European" pattern with the right side of the beam shooting out farther to illuminate the roadside.

You will absolutely want to install relays; you don't want all that power trying to run through the headlight switch.
