well after nearly a week of being down, the board is finally back up. i sincerely apologize for the down time. i feel horrible, and certainly dont want to yeild the impression that i dont take this board seriously. I really enjoy moderating it and am excited about the future.
let me explain what happened, and what has happened every time the board has crashed. I am a guest on a professional server. a fellow member and friend of mine, Simon (chargerSLOW) got me hooked up on this server as a favor. he does business with the admins, so it works out well for me. Apparently the server is tight on space though and when it runs out, for whatever reason, files in my directory get deleted. I have no idea why that happens. usually i can just get in touch with Simon and he shoots the server admins a quick note telling them to delete log files which clears up some space for me. they were supposed to have the process of deleting the logs automated so it takes place every night. apparently thats either not the case or something went wrong. and to make matters worse, Simon left town for a week, starting last saturday just getting back today, and the forum crashed on sunday. so i had no one i could contact and i was basically up a creak. I tried to go in and edit my settings files to bring up the news ticker to at least let everyone know what was going on, but as soon as I tried to save them they were deleted, which was the reason for the errors everyone was experiencing. i was then going to put a note on the main page, but thought for sure it too would get deleted and i didnt want it to go away, so i had to wait.
so thats the deal. hopefully it wont happen again, but who knows. its really beyond my control. the good news is Simon was just telling me tonight he is looking into hooking us up on a new server that will hopefully not have the same problem.
and lastly, now that we are up, im getting back to work on the navigation links and member ride section. keep submitting pics and car info to me so i can get a good site up for that.
