Chryco or anyone else,

Is if practical to drop a modern hemi in my 00 dodge ram.

I know the trans will match up
I know the mounts will match up
But what about the computer. Will the wire harness match up to the hemi computer. do I need to even change out the computer. Please advice i dont know too much about these darn modern electronics, makes me feel like my wife.

and it has a 318 in it now that is 4 wheel drive.

the 318 just wont pull for nothin and i all ready have the hemi or i would just buy a 360.

You'll probably need a new harness, but more importantly is that it is illegal to swap engines on late models.  You will never pass emissions either, so you may want to look into your local laws first.  Some of the fines for that stuff are pretty steep too.  Whatever came in the vehicle originally is what it must have.  Some of your accessories will probably need to be replaced or adapted too, and I dont know how they will work with your gauges also.

thats good to know but burpin lives in texas in a state with no emissions. woohoo texas rocks. i guess i will drive it as is and get a 360 later on.

I need to get up to speed on this , this has become the most asked ?? I do not have a good answer for yet , I know Mopar & 1 other company has a stand a lone puter to run the engine now , probably the easiest solution

Seems like a 5.9 magnum should bolt right in and the junk yards are now full of them for little money.

You could park it next to your '72 Hemi :bigsmile:
