More Ebodies on Video Games...

XBox 360 owners - anyone else ever play Test Drive: Unlimited?

It's actually an older game - I beat it on Playstation 2 a few years back.  It's one of those open-worlded driving games focused on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii.  I believe that the game includes over 900 miles of road on the Island, littered with homes you can purchase, car dealerships, "tuner" shops, car rental agencies, clothing shops (one of the dissapointments of the game) and even paint shops.  There are also over 300 racing events, ranging from time-trial events, checkpoint races, lap events, and various challenges which could include delivering a package, giving people rides, and even delivering high-value cars.

There is a number of downloadable content for the game, once of which adds a 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T to the "American Classics" dealership.  I was dissapointed at first when the car could only be purchased in Black.  But a quick race around a dormant volcano on the Island opened up a paint shop that allowed me to give it my own hue of Metallic, Hemi Orange.

Anyways, just wondering if anyone else ever saw this game.  It's a tad more challenging on the 360 than it was on the PS2 - I'm actually having trouble winning some of the races.  The steering controls seem much more sensitive, and the cars seem to have adaptive steering - at lower speeds a flick of the stick can spin the car around, whereas at higher speeds you can barely change lanes.  Reducing the sensitivity eases the low-speed manueverability, but makes high-speed driving difficult.  Nevertheless it's a pretty fun game, with a decent collection of licensed vehicles, ranging from Saturn Sky's to Ferrari Enzo's.

And that's my review...

lol - quoting what source?  Last I read (maybe a week or two ago) US customer will see the "Gran Turismo Prologue" game - basically an extended demo - sometime in the FALL available online or by purchase (much like Warhawk) and the full release of the game possibly not until 2009!

I tell ya what, it's taking longer for Takamuchinowhathisname to release this frickin' video game than it took Chrysler to design and produce the dammed Challenger!!!
