Is it just me, or does it seem that lately we vote not for the best person for the job, but the least objectionable? If it is, we're in a he!! of a jam as a nation.

In a weak attempt to lighten the  mood here....    :cooldancing:   I don't want to hear any of you complaining about the candidates that are before us.    :nono:   I gave you all plenty of time to get it right way back long ago...    :roflsmiley:    :roflsmiley:    :smilielol:    :smilielol:    :stirpot:

I am for LESS government at ALL levels.  Instead of feeding the folks a fish a day to keep them from hunger----teach em how to fish and let them support themselves.  I am for,* with a few exceptions*, letting the states decide what works best for them and do whatever the federal government can do to SUPPORT the states.
I think that if a state becomes too radical, the folks and busnesses will move out and over time, if the states want to remain viable entities, they will do what they need to do in order to remain competitive with surrounding states.  I believe that the free market will keep 'em in line with everyone else with a reduction in federal oversight...

**A couple of  exceptions off the top of my head are child protection laws and interstate extradition of law breakers.......

 :iagree:

It's like both parties have a monopoly on the elections every 4 years......running for president shouldn't involve fund-raising and other stupid stuff that, in the end, don't mean squat!  Instead, they should speak at different levels (more cities, inner towns, etc.) and show more people what they are truely about, not just who can raise the most money to stay on the campaign trail.

It sounds like this would be a great time for a real life "Brewsters Millions" where Richard Pryor runs a campaign urging everyone to vote for "None of the Above".  :icon16:

As a crazy canuck, I hope you can get someone who will do you all proud and take the country to another level. :2cents:

Picture, if you will, in your mind, Obama, McCain, and H. Clinton.

Got a good mental picture of them in your head now?  In that order?

Good.  Keep it there and scroll down.

Now picture Larry, Curley and Moe, in that order.  Do you see where I'm going with this?

Now the big question is:  Which STOOGE do YOU want leading YOUR country?

I don't care what a person's political party is or what their race or gender is. I want someone to stand up for this nation. One nation under GOD, not Allah or self or Buddah. To stand for the people and what is best for this nation. Not what's best for self or their own pocket or power or pride. We don't need another politician but a true statesman. Our nation has long gone the way of a true statesman & sevant of the people. We need a a true visionary & leader that can bring this nation together & not apart & divide by stupid political differences . Men like Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, Truman, Roosevelt. None of these men were perfect, but they had different ideals & times were different, but these men believed in serving the nation and that we were a great nation. Now it's just a job and stepping stone to money, power and a career for the portfolio & the next TV show.

Hey OS, if you run for presidency in '12, I'll begin to work on getting a green card today, so I can be a naturalized by '16 and vote for your second term!  :2thumbs:

Not that I'm especially pro-democrat, but in a way, it would be great if Obama won, and did a god full term, just to shut up the likes of Doris Lessing:

I hope your next president will be a though one, with no desire to be loved by people who hate USA anyway.
There's too much appeasement in this world already.

It is not illegall to be a satanist but that doesnt mean I want one for a president. Obama not placing his hand on his heart speaks volumes as far as I am concerned. It is one thing for a man or child to foget to take off their hat during the national anthem but a potential President? cmon. I think Moparmaniac hit it right on the button. We need a President who will lead one nation under GOD, not some idiotic flavor of the month religion. This country was founded on Christian values and anyone who doesnt want to stick with it can gtfo in my opinion. The liberals want to take GOD out of everything and every time they get their way our country sinks a little deeper into the abyss. We have put up with all the nonsense for far too long. Freedom unchecked can become a cancer. Whatever the outcome of the election it is not going to be a pretty sight thats for sure.

Not to get into a peeing match but I do have issues with all 3, but the Obama issue is the greatest.
How can we elect a man who is a Muslim and when sworn into office refused to put his hand on the Bible and only wanted the Koran to put his hand on...... What happens if terrorists attack our country and they are from a Muslim country?
How do you think Obama will react, he will need to defend this country and Flag (which he does not Honor), will he order the Military to kill Muslims if he is a Muslim?
I know I am a newbee but this is a Joke......

Obama and Billary want to raise taxes and have a huge government with its hand out. They want to pull out of Iraq immediately. If you love taxes, vote for the Dem. If you like welfare and government waste, vote for the Dem. With that being said, the right is not perfect and they have been spending money like they just won the lottery are 21 and in a boobie bar for the first time.
No candidate is perfect, but the basics apply because the Dems and Repubs have to raise money, if they don't pander to the base voter, they can't win. I have much more to write, but am boring myself.
