Used Parts Venders.Good or Bad?
« on: December 30, 2001 - 07:19:02 PM »
So here's my 2 cents...
Stop cry the blues people :'( Sure they ask insane prices, and they snag up all the good parts at swaps before anyone else gets to even look for it! They did all the work to find the stuff, and they should get every penny they think its worth!!
Sh#t if i had to walk two booth's over and buy something, and then bring it all the  way back to my booth,I'd charge triple the actual worth just because i broke a sweat!!!
Just pay the guy the $250.00 he's asking for that date coded
ballist resistor.Hey, he might just throw in those NOS wire connector's that you'll need for it?
If you can't find it, are to lazy to look for it,or have alot of cash. Then by all means buy parts from the very first vendor you see,Never mind that inflated price! Me i'll just go to my backyard and start picking Hemi's off of my magical Hemi tree!   ::)

There was a thread on Moparts discussing some guy who went around to swap meets, bought parts, and resold them for a higher price at the same swap meets.  Thats just plain wrong any way you slice it.  You are definitely not helping the hobby, just your wallet.

If he bought a few parts that he might need and, later on, ended up not needing the parts then I might could understand making a few bucks for the hassle of transporting/storing/etc, the parts.

I don`t have a problem with anyone making a living even if they have to buy from other venders to do it but I do have A BIG problem with dishonesty where someoone gives a big sob story to get parts cheap then resells them!! If you pay a fair price even if you are reselling & don`t undercut what the seller feels is fair then that is just democracy.
What we are talking about LahTera is swap meet / used parts dealers & just like every segment of society there are poeple doing honest business & con artists taking advantage of the situation for their own gain,No one forces us to support the con artists EVER.    My $.02

I have nothing against vendors making a living, I just have a thing against vendors who attack you when your unloading at a swap meet. I've gotten to the point where I won't even sell to anyone on set up day.
