1970 Plymouth Barracuda Gran Coupe
« on: February 28, 2008 - 02:24:11 AM »
Am sorry if this car has been discussed before...it's new to me and am excited to see it
as it will no doubt be a main attraction...the owner also will be showing his "World's Ultimate Mopar" prize winning Roadrunner.

Starting tomorrow till Sunday we play host to the Edmonton Motorshow.

Mostly it is a new car show but in the lower level the good stuff can be found !!

Joey's Place, a local popular but expensive car restorer did the coupe restoration and will be showing about 12 vintage cars and funny cars including a 1968 Pontiac GTO convertible and a 1970 Cuda

The Barracuda convertible is owned by a car collector from Red Deer. In a newspaper article about the car today he said it originally from California and had 38,000 original-miles. It came from the factory with a 318-cubic-inch V8 with a four-speed manual transmission and an 83/4-inch differential...and the only thing missing was a HEMI....it now boasts a Hemi with two four-barrel carburetors

"I searched for the correct Hemi engine and located one that's date coded for 1970. I had the engine rebuilt so that it was ready for installation when the rest of the car was finished.

The differential was swapped for a 1970-dated Dana 60 -- the correct rear axle to handle the massive torque and horsepower generated by the Hemi. The carburetors are also date-coded for 1970."

Last weekend a similar show was in Calgary...great cars but rather disappointing as the new Challenger was not on show...and it seemed it would not be showing at our show either....

Then I received a text message a short bit ago with some good news. The car had been held up at customs...it was finally given clearance and it showed up late this afternoon !!

If interested and I get some good shots I'll post pictures

Painted by Joeys but apparently not assembled by Kori.

Depending on how "life" things go I am aiming to go tomorrow ...not my favorite show cause it's mostly new vehicles but hey one can't be picky when it's the first show of the season....I've got the winter blues so bad I'll go look at just about any car right about now

Once I upload them tomorrow I'll link you to the online photo album

Too bad they didn't black out the rad support. Maybe they just got busy and forgot.
Other than that little mistake, it looks pretty nice.

Show was pretty good although the owner of this car I am sure won't think so...stripped the car in the darn parking lot!! Just can't understand why people do this sort of thing

The GTO...Cuda..Challenger...Road Runner etc etc everything is in the album and more

Here's a link to the album...sorry it is not sorted yet it's 4:30am just got in and kinda rushed to get them all uploaded and now...
