vapor liquid separator

hi guys,
i have a 73 barracuda, so it's got a vapor liquid separator just in front of the gas tank as part of it's emissions gear.
a couple of the little hoses leading from it to the tank are perished and need new clamps.
i'm about to replace 'em but was wondering if should just get rid of the whole unit...

the engine bay no longer has the activated carbon can, so do i still need the separator? the little hoses are leaking gas.

what are your guys thoughts on this?

you can plug the ports off & remove the separater just make sure you ahve eithe one line open preferably running uo 6-8" & back down  or a vented cap so the tank can breathe

Since I just went through this, let me add that if you plug the lines use something fuel rated. I didn't the first time and the caps melted.
