Original Look Oil Pressure Gauge?
« on: February 25, 2008 - 09:31:34 PM »
Does anyone know if there is an oil pressure gauge that will fit into the blank (empty) position in an original non-ralley instrument panel?  I really would like to put a "factory look" oil pressure gauge there if possible. Thanks.

possibly RedlineGauge works may be able to do something like that, i know they do voltmeter conversions and tach additioins to non-ralley setups

Got one and they look great in the cluster but I wasn't happy with the accuracy of the gauge. 40psi on a mechanical gauge at idle would just move the needle a bit. Running at speed the gauge was accurate. Just too much needle swing from idle to running. Just my :2cents:

Did you get the mechanical (oil tube) or electric sending unit?

electric sending unit. Got mine two years ago. I don't think they offered anything but an electrical then.

Thanks guys for telling us about this company. I never thought such things existed. I logged on to see their product line and discovered they do a tacho as well. I would go for a tacho rather than the oil, but the looks of it is not very consistant with the rest of the gauges. It looks out of place and too modern. The only thing in common is the red needle. So I wrote to them, (see text below) and hope they can come up with a better look.
Wally Can you please state the site address of Sunn Green Line to see what they have to offer. I could not locate them.
Cheers, Farouk

"Hi

Your company was brought to my attention through a member in the Cuda Challenger forum and I saw your products.
I am interested in the tachometer for a non Ralley cluster, but ask you the following.

1. The oil pressure gauge looks great and very authentic, but the tacho does not as the numbers there as well as the thickness of the lines are not similar to the rest of the gauges.
Seeing you do this as a special offer for the Mopar family, can you re-print the lines/numbers on the gauge to look the same?
That will really give it an authentic look just like the oil pressure gauge, otherwise it does look out of place.
2. In case you do not, is the lens easy to remove, then I can have it done on my computer and stick it on the face of the gauge, if you know what I mean.
3. The housing of the oil pressure gauge looks like the rest of the gauges, i.e. with the lobes sticking out on both sides for the screws to hold it down.
I did not see that on the tacho. Is the photo of the tacho the wrong one or how does it fix onto the cluster?

Thanks

Hey Farouk, the Sun products were used back in the 60's and 70's. The only thing you will find now are SunPro, which is not the same. At the time it would have been an aftermarket add-on. I like it b/c it looks more "period correct" for me. They are not easy to find and pricey on  :ebay: but they are out there. I paid $50 for a slightly faded one, but i dig it! and i found an NOS light socket kit for it!

Oh I understand. Cool looking.
Anyway, I am more interested in stock look. I wrote to red line, and will see what comes out.
As I said, my pref will be for a tacho, otherwise might consider an oil press gauge and will remove my stock clock, which I added on.
Will keep you posted when I hear from Red line.
