No VIN and TRIM tag
« on: November 17, 2009 - 06:45:41 PM »
Hi,
I've found a Barracuda 383 for sale in not too bad conditions. My main concern is that car come without VIN tag and fender tag :clueless:

The only documentation about the car is the VIN stated in the Title that match with the last digits stamped on the cowl and radiator support.

I'm wondering if there is a way to get original trim tag data (in order to reproduce it) and a legal way to obtain a reproduction VIN tag for the dash.

thanks for your help.

VIN laws vary by state, but you can apply to your state DMV or BMV for a replacement VIN. Ask them what you will need to do BEFORE you buy the car.

:iagree:  but most times it will be a reissued vin# and placed in the dooe jamb and it won`t match the factory vin#.Is the car local? If not you also need to worry about getting it through customs and such without the vin tag .

it seems that is it legal to request a duplicate VIN through the Police and DMV.  But, is it possible to have a reproduction tag stamped on the original looking "Chrysler" palte  (with Chrysler logo) ?

Some states do have laws to replace a missing vin with a factory plate with the factory issued vin # but most do not-you need to check.
