alternator wiring
« on: April 08, 2008 - 05:53:19 PM »
Two field connections.  Two wires.  One blue.  One green.  Does it matter which goes to which?  If so, could someone tell me which is which?  The manual just shows F, F and B and doesn't differentiate between the two.  Wish I could input more to this board than questions but I do appreciate the help.

I have to say no difference either way, but going from my harness, I could only reach the far one with one of my wires, so I couldn't switch them if I wanted to. Keep in mind, my harness has been altered, so your results may vary.   Sorry to joke around, but the field is the field. No positive or negative side, so connect either wire to whatever terminal.

I don't think it matters, and I am blessed with a bad memory, but I believe I remember reading somewhere that 1 wire was a high speed brush and the other a lower speed brush. When I looked into the stater, 1 wire would ride on a side field and the other on a vertical field. Which would make the brush windings faster than the other. I am positive it works both ways, but I thought green on top and blue on bottom.
