As some of you may know, we are restoring a 70 340 A66 car currently. Upon instalation of the driver side mid floor (floor behind the front seats or the rear seat footwell) from Goodmark (which the CEO is a friend of mine) we noticed a problem. The seat belt holes are located incorrectly. Our belief is that the manufacturer in taiwan used a cuda mid floor (which is about 2 inches shorter than the challenger floor) and just added 2 inches of metal to the front. The floor fits fine, but the seat belt holder holes are 2 inches to far back.

Reminder..this is for a 1970 Challenger
Pic 1565 is of the new Mid Floor installed (this is the piece from Goodmark.) As you can see from the pic the seat belt holder hole is 9 inches from the back and the U shaped cut out above, the center is about 6 inches from the back. This piece is on the Drivers side of the car
Pic 1569 is of the old Mid Floor from Factory. The seat Belt Holder hole is 11 inches from the back and the U shaped cutout above, the center is about 8 inches from the back. This piece is on the Passenger side of the car.
Pic 1568 is of the new Mid Floor installed view of the center hump (this is the piece from Goodmark.) As you can see from the pic the seat belt holder hole is 9 1/2 inches from the back.
Pic 1567 is of the old Mid Floor view of the center hump From the Factory. As you can see from the pic the seat belt holder hole is 11 inches from the back.
We compared the Goodmark piece to Tom's Cuda and these floors are exactly the same dimensions as the cuda floor except they are about 2 inches longer. I believe to save on tooling they are just using the cuda floor (extended 2 inches) for the Challenger which is incorrect as you can see in the pics. What we have to do to correct the problem is...
1. Drill out the holes of the plate that holds the flanged nut.
2. Remove the plate and relocate it to the correct spot.
3. Weld the plate to the floor and drill the hole where it should be in the floor.
4. Patch the floor where the original hole was.
This has to occur on both sides of the the floor piece, as there are two seat belt holder holes on each floor piece. If we were to leave the seatbelt holes where they are from the Goodmark piece, then the seatbelt would be right in the middle of the opening where a person would step into the back seat area of the car. It has to be relocated forward or it would be a hazard for the person stepping into the rear seat area of the car.
i hope this helps anyone in the middle of a floor restoration. I hope you can fix it before your floors are installed, unlike our situation as our floors are in. Any thoughts from anyone??
