4 speed "short shifter" ?
« on: February 28, 2004 - 11:31:15 PM »
On my previous car- Chrysler Conquest- I put in a short shifter kit, that shortened throws probably 50%. Real close. Snickity Snick.  It had you modify the main shifter rod and replace some other pieces. It was a top mount arrangement though. The shifter handle pivoted above and extended into an  inner lever situated on top of the tranny that looked like the small end of a connecting rod.

Can we shorten the shift throws on the factory 4 speed while keeping the pistol grip handle at the same height ??

How complicated does the Chrysler tranny make this idea with the external rods + the way it is built ?

easily done , you need shorter levers , The B body pistol used the shortest lever I believe , most E bodys have the levers with 2 holees in them using the hole closest to the pivot will shorten the throw substantially
