I just installed the one in the picture. I got it from Mancini.   I had the Lakewood universal kit but I had a hard time getting it to work with my X pipe.  This new one seems to fit much better...and I didn't have to drill into my floor.   Clearance with the X pipe is still very close.  You can see the 2 bolts/nuts hanging down in the picture.  I did away with those and just welded the 2 pieces together to pick up a little more clearance above the x pipe.

That is a nice one.  It is much better than drilling the floor.

I've been afraid of those bolt to the cross-member loops.  It's like attaching the loop to end of a pry bar.  Drive-shaft failures can be pretty violent and if one happened it would probably end up bending your cross-member.

You can cut down, weld and re-drill the old school type for more exhaust clearance.  They don't have to be oval shaped for the front loop because the up/down movement is much less than a loop at the back of the shaft.

What if a brace was added that went from the loop at the round end to the seat mounts? This would be parallel to the transmission crossmember and create 4 mounting points. I want to use one but don't want to alter a very clean 6 pack Cuda.

That would certainly help.  The only problem is those seat bolts are 5/16".  Maybe if you replaced them with some grade 8's and  put a reinforcing plate/large washer between the seat track and the floor.

I would  run something, I seen the damage done without one.

My convertible has a beat up rear floor due to one letting loose.  I know what you mean.  I wonder how much the rear of the shaft would move around with this set up if it let loose.  I would definitely use different hardware if I were to attach it to the seat mounts.

attaching a support near the loop would make that type virtually indestructable
