My First Admirer!
« on: July 29, 2008 - 05:19:25 PM »
So, as I knock out the bugs on my Challenger, I've been driving it more and more.  It's getting close to being my daily driver!

I met up with my buddy at a burger joint to give him a Holley carb I rebuilt for him, and I was running down the specifics when some guy walks up to me and asks me, "What year?"  "Do you mind if I take some pictures?".  I said "No problem!".  He said his wife has a '70 Charger, and wanted to take some pictures for her.

I have to admit, I got kind of a little ego boost, because hanging out here with all the beautiful A+ resto-jobs and the fast and good looking drag cars is very humbling, considering my car is a primered rattle-trap right now.  I'll get there, eventually, just thought I'd share.

Man am I off my rocker or what?  I thought your car was done....   :screwy:  I thought it was one of those flat gray pait jobs with black rims that matched that shaker ect LOL!!!  Man was I way off... now that I look at the pic closer I can see that your car is not complete.  Well you got a great start I must say!  Good luck finishing it.  What are your plans for it?  Paint color? Rims? Stripe? ect.

Thanks guys!!

Don, I've always wanted a Sublime Green car, so that's the direction I'm leaning, with black guts.  I'm still in the building/collecting parts stage, after I weld in my subframe connectors I can work on the interior, then I need one more small patch panel on the passenger rear quarter, then finding the side mirrors, the trunk and rear quarter trim.

Wheels are up in the air, right now the wheels are 16"x8" nascar steelies, but I have a set of 15" Cragar S/Ss I might throw on there to brighten it up once I get tires mounted on them.  Eventually, I'd like to get either a set of the old one piece aluminum 15"x8" American Racing 200s "coke bottle" wheels,  or the 16"x8" Vintage 40 wheels.  So many good options!

Nice to hear Rabid, always nice to hear someone comment on your pride and joy.
It's not why we build them but it sure as hell isn't a bad thing to hear.  ;)

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.
