Convertible Top Help
« on: April 15, 2008 - 10:31:06 PM »
A little help from all the Vert owners please....

My "new" Chally Vert has a new top, but have discovered that the drivers' side window has a 1 inch gap to the top of the door's weatherstripping.   Took the door panel off -- the window sure appears to be going as high as possible.   Is the weatherstripping along the top of the door different for HT's vs. Convertibles?  (just wondering if the guy who restored this put the wrong style in...)    Also, I see references on some Concertible Top sites to "pads" and "well liners" -- how important are these (this is a manual top).....??

Thanks.

V M are you sure the window regs adjustment is right. I know I 've had to play with a few 'verts I had over the years. As for "well liners" its behind the back seat .. it's the "well" that the top folds into. but hides the "hole" when the top is up. Hope this gives a little insight.

Just a thought. Is the door glass a vert glass or a hardtop glass?

The pad fits between the top and the and the top of the frame rails so when raising and lowering the top doesn't get pinched.

Thanks for the response.     I'm confident the glass is correct ( it is different than my '74 hardtop).     As to the adjustments, will check that out this weekend....  I noticed today that when you wind the window up it doesn't seem to track towards the top -- but goes "outside" (away from the driver) and misses the groves in the windshield post weatherstripping -- so guessing some adjustments are needed.

As to the top "well" - I understand what it is -- my question is - are they "important" to have?   I have a top and boot --  Should I invest in a "well liner" that allegedly protects the top -- or is this an unnecssary $100 bucks spent?    Finally, I appreciate the pic -- but I'm still a bit confused about the pads and where they go.   I have a new top -- still confused about where they go....    :dupe:

Any (and all) other thoughts welcome.  thanks again!

The pads sit on top of what would be the bows that go left and right over your head,as for the liner it just looks unfinished without one.
