The famous 1969 "recall wheels" that Chrysler contracted out the manufacturing duties to Kelsey Hayes have surfaced in Mexico. When Chrysler returned the recalled wheels to Kelsey Hayes, they were shipped to Mexico and sold as aftermarket wheels.

This is the first mention I've found of them on Chryslers:

Do you know if they came on his car. I'm pretty sure that I'm right on the name (Motor Wheel Spyders); I'm just trying to find out if Mopar ever offered them. I had never seen them before Saturday, but the guy who owned the Superbird they were on swore they were OEM.

I'm pretty sure they were not...when he was selling he specifically stated that these wheels were not included in the price...he must value them highly.... If you want a definitive answer as to whether they could be OE on a S.bird PM DAYTONA...seems he's owned several wing cars and is probably the most knowledgeable member here on the model.

Apparently they are pretty rare. I've come across posts in several forums from people looking for a set or to complete a set.

All I know those wheels are reffered to as Spyders, I'm pretty sure they were an aftermarket wheel back in the day.   :2thumbs:

I have a Mopar friend that collects them and puts them on his cars.  I took a set off of a 74 Challenger that I sold and traded them to him.  He has a wheel guy that he sends them to that converts them to 15"-any width wheel.  You send him a 14" Spyder wheel and it comes back a 15" for around $90.
