Has anyone recently had their hood hinges rebuilt and if so where did you get it done and what do you think of the job?

I had mine done by SMS and I couldn't be happier. Sylvain did some other custom work not listed on his web site for my car, too.

May I ask you guys how much it was for a set of (1970) hood hinges to be rebuilt?
I was in touch with SMS a few years back after I almost got screwed from someone using SMS as a second party.  :swear:
This had nothing to do with SMS being involved directly at all.
Just cuurious if the price has changed much.
 Thanks

This was the e-mail response I got from them just before I sent my hinges December of 2006

Sir,

As requested in your e-mail you would like a quotation to rebuild your hood
hinges.
The cost to rebuild a pair of 1970 E-Body hood hinges is $199.00 for
the pair plus S&H back to your zip.
Presently, our turn around time is approx 3-4 weeks.
We also have 1970 E-Body hood hinges in stock already rebuilt that you
could purchase outright.
The core charge is an extra $100.00.This $100.00 will be refunded as soon as
we received your old hinges.
The hinges we have in stock are complete with springs in bare metal.
The quotation is valid for 3 months.
Please let us know if  more information is requested or if you would like to
place an order by sending your hinges or buy one pair outright.
