Auto column shift
« on: July 20, 2008 - 03:51:37 PM »
I am putting back together the interior in my 70 A-body and the column was removed. I noticed after putting the shifting lever back in the column that the only places the gear selector stops is at Park and Neutral, the selector just slides by Reverse, Drive, 2nd and 1st. The column was not completely disassembled but the upper portion was loosened and pulled up inorder to replace the key switch then screwed back down. And the roll pin was knocked out of the shift lever so the column could be painted. When I look down the hole that the lever goes into I can see the spring is still present and the detents look normal to me. Does this sound right or will there be problems with the tranny slipping out of gear?
