spot weld guns-do they work?

I keep getting tempted to try one of these Eastwood style spotweld guns that hooks upto an arc welder.
I kind of plan on seam welding alot of the body to add stiffness, but I like the idea of getting semioriginal spotwelds instead of obvious MIG welds in places like the trunk, firewall, etc. It would also be nice to not have to drill all those hoiles to be able to MIG in the new floorpans, etc.
$60 is not a big chance to take, but how good can it be?

 I am not familar with that spot welder however if a spot weld is not done correctly they can come undone and cause major dramas. At the factory they use a large 'g clamp' to apply pressue to get good penetration.

i sold that kit to a customer of mine.  came with that spot gun and the stitch welder you hook up to an arc welder.  its apparently an eastwood exclusive now.  the guy i sold it to uses it on his farm though so i dont have any reports on longevity but he says it works great.  i thought about getting one myself but decided against it for this project.  heres a couple of links i saved when i was considering it.

I tried a spot welder attachment for a TIG welder that I have, and I could never get good consistent welds with it.  I have heard that the ProSpot units work very well, but they are VERY expensive.  I have also seen the clamp type spot welders at Harbor Freight, but never tried one.
