Looking for rebuild kit.
« on: May 02, 2008 - 11:55:33 PM »
I need a rebuild kit for a 340. Just a basic refresh kit with rings, bearings, gaskets.

I've looked on the net, and have found a very wide range of prices.

Can anyone recommend anyone that provides a good kit for a good value?. I'm not looking for high performance, just basic stock stuff.

paw ads in hot rod and such are decent straight rebuilder kits with name brand parts, I've used them before....of course there is summit and jegs
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

There is really not much difference in price between the cheaper kits and more quality ones, buy the better quality. The engine will last longer, use less oil and you won't have that nagging voice in the back of your head saying I wished I had bought that other part. It takes almost the same amount of time to fit the cheaper parts as the better parts, "do it once, do it right."   :2thumbs:   :woo:

I usually use a store called Engine Parts Warehouse. They are nation wide and carry name brand parts. Also helps if you or a friend has a shop license. Most all of my basic rebuilds are built by their parts. They also sell all spead equipment.  But needless to say, stick with brand names....

We're a forum of motor heads. Why isnt some vendor selling good quality rebuild kits here? Seems they would make a fortune!
