Will these heads work on my 383?

But curious, why would a 383 be better than a 400?  Isn't a 400 a bored out 383, which is good? 

I belive when comparing original pistons, all 400's had low comp.(8.0-8.5?) and most 383's had approx. 9.5? Even though they were cast with a bigger bore, the 383's will usually respond better to HP mods. Now rebuild both with the same hi comp. piston and well,cubes are cubes!

yeah that is a big factor along with the fact that every 383 I have ever seen had a forged steel crank in it. But you are right, built to the same specs, cubes are cubes.

400 Block + 440 Crank = 451 ci

The low deck 451 is pretty nice.  Headers fit better and its alot easier to change plugs.

Just collecting parts right now and playing around with the 383.  We'll see what happens in the future. 

I'll keep my out for other fun stuff....a 400ci block eh?    Hmmm....
