I have the same issue, I plan on buying one the the boxes from Firmfeel. I think I'd like to try and rebuild my old one just to do it.

I got a rebuilt steering box from Autozone, much better than the old one plus no leaks.LOL  It was in stock and about 125 bucks giving them my old one.  I used the 73-up box to utilize the more common pitman arm that was 35 bucks.  The72 down stuff was harder to find and more $$$ too.

Did you need to modify anything in order to use the 73-up setup?

No, the only thing that was had to be addressed was the steering wheel was a bit off center afterwards.  But that got taken care of with a new alignment.  I just ordered a 73 Dodge Challenger Box along with the Pitman arm since it uses the more common(cheaper) large Sector spline on the box.  Bolted right in place of the stocker(small spline).

hey Tom  , Does the Autozone unit have a better feel than the old unit?  All power and minimal road feel really sux, I have a T/A box in my car and might go to the Autozone unit if its an improvement.......   125 at AZ is a good price considering  Firm Feel gets 300 and the AZ unit has a nice warrentee.........

It is better than the old one.  But I'm sure that the FF box would be a big improvement.  I'm pretty used to it now with occassional unintended lane changes vs lots of unintended lane changes.LOL

Really I didn't want any leaks to go back in the newly painted engine bay.  I also got a new pump and stuff from them too.  Was about 200 with the Box,Pump, and hoses.

Good for street driving.

Tom

The bigger tires helps a bunch too.

Yup, and I held on to mine in case it was no good.  So i could ship it to FF or Steer and Gear.  But I'm out of  :poopoke:$$$ for this car now.
