Tranny's going in today
« on: May 08, 2008 - 12:06:27 PM »
Well,
After driving around for over 6 months with a hosed up slipping transmission, I finally got around to taking the car into my local speed shop for a tranny swap. Back about 6 months ago I was winding up the Challenger doing a little speed shifting and didn't have the slap-stick locked in and hit reverse going about 35 mph. :burnout: MY BAD!!!! yeah I know, I'm an idiot!!  :screwy: I was used to a reverse manual I had on my Barracuda. It came to a screeching halt (literally) in the middle of the road. Well that was the story of my transmission. It was toast. I got another 727 with a shift kit, race clutches, TCI torque converter (about a 2800 stall). I don't have a lift, so I figured I'd let the shop do it. They do awesome work and cut me some slack for the job. I should be chirping gears again by tomorrow!! BUT....not in REVERSE going forward!! Getting her right for the Carlisle trip!!  :clapping: I ought to start a post about stupid car stunts!!!

i tore up mine when the band welded itself to the drum on a 1-2 shift and locked the rear tires at heavy throttle. that was fun!

Don't ask me what a "sprag" is, because I don't know what I'm talking about either.  :dunno: :roflsmiley:
