I took my son to watch the race and that viper was cool but what was really strange is that it leaves the line like a school bus but once it starts rolling it is like a rocket. There were also a few cool mopars there, a 70 Hemi Cuda, 68 Hemi barracuda, 66 coronet 440 and a 69 Dart. One of the best runs was by a guy in a 4 speed chevelle, he could really rip through those gears, just like the old days. On a side note, since it was heads up racing, I told my son that we would bet $1 on each race and he could pick his car first and I would take the other one. Sometimes you have to keep it interesting for a 6 year old. That little knuckle head wore me out. We bet on 16 races and he won 14 of them. His logic was really great, he always picked the viper because it sounded like an airplane and would only choose a camero if it had stripes and so on.... Anyway, we had lots of fun and just thought I would share.

Sound like a great time with the little boy. Get him interested in cars early and make it stick. We need more younger people in this hobby.

A couple buddies went down for that. I'm sure I hear the details later this week. Sounds like a great time!

Went down thursday morning.had a real good time.there were some real neat/fast cars.we helped out good friend with his car and he also won.the winner was jim plimpton from Authentic Auto in Cudahy Wisconsin with his black 88 t-bird Steve Morris procharged BBF.his best pass of the weekend was 8.31@174.5mph and still dont have all the bugs worked out.he had just got the car running on tuesday made a few passes at union grove and was loaded up to leave for memphis on wednesday.i think thats pretty impressive for a car that had almost no track time.
There were some neat mopars in the field.a really clean blue 70 cuda with a 572 hemi and from what i was told there were no power adders on it and that car was fn flyin.a blue 66 or 67 coronet that had no problems clickin off low 10 sec passes and a very nice looking car.then a really sharp black barracuda with a dual plugged hemi(i seen it run but cant remember what it ran but again it was flyin)and a white dart wich i thought was one of the neatest cars(besides the all HP cuda) and i think he was in the mid 9s.here are some pics

Very cool!!! :grinyes: :2thumbs:  I'm surprised Mellon didn't run his Evo or Stealth R/T TT there as they both run quite well.  And it's funny to see just how long the twin turbocharged Viper waits at the line to get his turbos spooling and still pulls very stout times. :faint:

Given the size of those turbos, I could imagine it running well into the 30's.  The guy who posted the videos (Chris) runs something like 26-28 psi just on his Evo with an upgraded turbo and I know many people run GT-42's (~.70mm ind. trim) to mid-30's.  That Viper is simply awesome!!!
