Is the Market Back Up Again??
« on: May 12, 2008 - 05:16:35 PM »
Just saw this on Moparts, seems a little high to me but I may be missing something.

"1970 barracuda convertible. 318 car no motor or trans. Needs total resto.Makes ideal clone. All convertible parts are there. $28,500.00. Call Tony 302-530-7112 or e-mail HP2Tony@aol.com "

is this a reasonable price?  I know hard without pictures but it says needs a total resto too for $28,500

It is tough without pics. If it is totally rust free, and just needs new paint and a new interior, and drive-train... then it gets interesting. Just from what you stated though, the price is steep.

If this car is around NJ I think the car could be  an m46 code vert. Is the car yellow?

I believe the car is in Delaware and don't know the color.  I also thought it was high when the add said needs resto and there are no pictures.  I was trying to get an idea of the convertible market these days and I didn't think it was like this again.  what does the guys in Jersey asking for his vert?  what condition is it in?

I don't think prices are back up, I think this guy just doesn't realize that they have dropped.   There was just a '71 Barracuda vert on ebay.  Restored in the last 5 years, 318 engine.  The bids just went up to $33,000.  2 years ago you never saw them under $50k.

In the last 4 months, only 4 cuda conv have sold on ebay. I track all e-bodies. Orig 383 now with hemi went for 86K, Cuda clone with hemi went for 124K, 318 rebuilder went for 28K, and crate hemi orig 318 went for 89K. I think we are close to the bottom, but all depends on the overall economy.
