Yep, I got them.

I just learned somthing new also, the date system changed starting with the 1972 model year;

So, instead of the 10,000 day calendar like older engines, it is Month / Day.

For your engine the 0606 would be a final assembly date of June 6, 1973 if I got that right.

OK, another example, I have a 1973 340 here I just looked at, it says;


?W 340 R 4137 8126 (first digit is not readable, but it has a 1973 VIN)

The 4137 is the 10,000 day calendar date code for Nov. 24, 1972 (1973 model year)

So it appears that both types of date coding were used.   :clueless:

Another one with over 8000 as a build number too. The "8" must mean something else?

   With regard to the lag between cast dates and build dates, didn't they leave the castings for awhile to stress relieve them especially the high performance versions   :2cents:
