Questions For E-Body Owners W/Keisler Conversion

I just received my Keisler kit.  I was always under the impression from magazine articles that the floor did not need to be modified other than adding a 4-speed hump if your car was automatic.  According to my instructions I am supposed to cut a hole in the tunnel, then take this flat piece of metal with a slit in it and hand form a cover for this hole.  Did something change?  Did any of you install this plate?  If so, does the carpet look funky?  If you didn't install this plate do you have interference issues?

My '70 Cuda 340 was an original 4spd car and I did not cut any additional areas. It fit fine without any addt'l cuts. Howevere, it has a tight fit on the right side.
You are going to love that trans.. I am going to get another one for my next project!

  Same here, put one in my 71 Cuda, did not have to alter the floor, but it is very close on the drivers side.   It almost seems hit and miss on some cars, which of course doesn't really make sense, but I wouldn't hack your floor board before trying the installation.

early 70 challenger here, LA build.

I did have to modify the RH side of the tranny hump with the sheet metal.   no big deal and no funny lump.    I am using a console and did get new carpet that was molded for a manual tranny instead of re-using the autotranny carpet, which may or may not have had an influence.



the Kiesler is a great upgrade and a lot of fun.    made a BIG difference when on the freeway

I have a 73 which was an original 4-speed car. I had to modify the floor to get the trans tail high enough to get the driveline angle correct. I used a 3lb hammer and was able to get the room without cutting. Seems all of the cars are different, as some need the mods and some don't.
