Antoher subframe connector question
« on: June 05, 2008 - 04:40:01 PM »
I'm looking at the US Car Tool subframe connectors as compared to the Competition Engineering (#3043) and the Mopar Performance from Summit

On the US Car you don't have to cut the floor pan and on the C.E. ones you do. I don't know how far they will encroach into the floor pan and if it would look ok doing it. I think they are suppose to be stronger. I don't know if you have to cut the floor pan with the Mopars or not.
Any recommendations as to which one is better?

Thanks
WG

I would do a search on Sub frame connectors here on the site. There's tons of input and pics done on this subject.

the us car tool is a complete weld in parts from front to back. weld across the whole bottom of the floor, the mopar one are tool long for the cuda unless you cut them to fit, they are really for the B-body and the challenger. the mopar one are bolt or weld in at the ends only. we have both in stock.

The CE units that bisect the floor pan are the strongest because of the way they dived the floor and integrate it into the structure. The contoured connectors are next in line because they add needed reinforcement, but do not put the floor pan in a shear plane like the CE units. The MP units are the least strong of the three because they do none of the above, but they are a HUGE step up from having nothing. They also are the easiest to install or uninstall should you ever want to get rid of them.
