What do I have here?
« on: June 01, 2008 - 12:43:16 PM »
I posted over in the General Section about that I am looking at.  The fender tag has surface rust and is almost impossible to read.  The car is very original and complete so most of the options are fairly easy to identify.

I went back to get the VIN and got another surprise.  The build date is 9 - 1969.  It looks to be an early Gran Coupe.

BP23G0B114744

There are about 5 BP23 Gran Coupes with lower sequence numbers found on the Registry.  How special is this car in terms of it being an early model?

While it is somewhat special because it is a Gran Coupe, I would not consider it more valuable because of its early build. That is just my  :2cents:

No worries, since it's a 318 car I'm not looking for a "treasure".  It's just more of a curiousity thing.  Is has what looks like an M51 in the fender tag.  I'm trying to find out if it is some kind of special order car.

I do not think it would have m51 as a code on it's own as that code is for a sunroof and that Gran Coupe has a roof consul........... :2thumbs:  Any chance you could post up the info of the fender tag up and we can help decode it with you. :woo:

Reading the fender tag is a bit of a challenge since it is so rusty.

Does it happen to have air conditioning? That is most likely what that code is. A lot of Gran Coupes came with extra options including air conditioning.  Duh I just now put 2 and 2 together lol. Yeah it was optioned with air conditioning since it has the dash vents. Gotta love air con, lord knows I do

It is H51 - AC.

The sunroof was not available in the Barracuda line up until the 1972 model year.

This is what I see;

EN1
 + M31 R11 V5? Y05  26  +
C62 G31 H51 L31 M21 M25
EW1 A01 A04 C16 C26 C55
EW1 P5K4 000 904 015794
E44 D31 BP23 G0B 114744

The six-way seat adjuster is worth $800.00 or so by itself if it is in good condition.

Based on the photos on the other thread the V5 code may be V5X.
