The Junk Yard Crawl - Looking for a drive shaft w/7290's
« on: June 04, 2008 - 01:07:20 AM »
I am going to start doing the "junkyard crawl" with my dad. We are looking for a drive shaft for my Duster that uses the 7290 u-joints. I have the yoke for the rearend (8-3/4 - 742 case) and I figure the slip yoke is a hit or miss with the driveshaft. We were wondering if there was a car or truck (readily available in the Junkyards) out there that came with the 7290 U-joints.

We are thinking if we can score one with the 7290 U-joints that we need and if it is in good shape, not damaged or heavily rusted; I can have it cut to length (put new u-joints in it obviously) and get my car on the road.

Any help is greatly appreciated

I thought that getting a drive shaft made wasn't that expensive, and you can get exactly what you want???

You should be able to buy a new 7290 slip yoke for about $100 from any industrial drive line company.
