Newbie in Australia (70 Challenger)
« on: June 16, 2008 - 03:04:12 PM »
Hi all, Im’new to the web site and have found it absolutely brilliant!. What a great place to research the E- Body’s.
I’ve just bought my first Challenger (long time dream of mine). I bought a 1970 R/T S-E, this was a factory 383 auto but now has a 440 (still with auto trans). The car will require a bit of a resto to get it back on the road.
One of the problems I have is we are both in Australia (Adelaide) and I’m not sure how to go about getting parts for this project over here.
Also the rear window plug and vinyl roof have been removed (larger window fitted) and I’d like to get another plug for it (I have the small window).
Any ideas how to go about this?
Thanks

Hi again, thanks all for the enthusiastic welcome. Looks like this is the place to be!.
I’ve attached a couple of pics of the Challenger. The car has been off the road for quite some time and as can be seen it had been dismantled and stored in a small shed. This created a few logistic problems due to the car being in Perth (Western Australia) which is more than 2000 miles from Adelaide where I live. So I made my way to Perth to do a parts inventory and a rough assemble for transport purposes. Motor and Trans in, doors back on, hood back on (known as a bonnet over here) trunk lid back on, front fenders and the front and rear glass back in place. Anyway the old girl is in transit as I type this and is on its way across the Nullarbor Plain (local word meaning “land of no trees) or something like that.
So I can hardly wait to get it home to my place and strip it all down again for a good look at what I’ve got.
Not very exciting photos, I will try and get a few more up as I go.
Thanks.
P.S Original color is B5 Blue, but as this is not a numbers matching car I figure this gives me license for a re-spray of my choice (a small consolation).Cheers
