Well, the Thurs. before the Mopars @ E-town show, mom and dad took delivery of their "new" 70 Chally convert. The car is numbers matching 318 auto and even has the build sheet. The car is white on white with a red interior. The only thing that seems to have been changed out color wise is the convert roof which according to the fender tag and build sheet would have been originally black. The car has been restored body wise but there are some small leaks and other minor electrical gremlins that need some attention. So far some of the electrical stuff has been repaired. Pictures will soon follow as we get the car back together.....
Anyway, brief story as to why mom wanted a challenger convert..... Her very first brand new car was a 1970 Challenger hard top, with B5 blue paint and blue interior. The only options that she could afford at the time was power steering and an AM/8 track radio. The car was an automatic with the leaning tower of power, the reliable /6 engine. Well, as time would have it, they were lucky enough to find this car down in NC and had some extra cash and were able to get the car. Now at least the car she has always wanted is back in the family and a convertible with numbers matching and build sheet too. This is the third antique car in the family, I have a 69 Charger with a 383 HP 4 bbl backed to a 4 speed console (R4 red with white top and interior) and dad has a 70 El camino SS 396, triple black with white SS stripes and yes it is a TRUE SS.
