BB Power Steering Pump
« on: June 08, 2008 - 01:37:17 AM »
Does the small block PS pump install on a Big Block? I have the correct brackets from 440Source but the pulley is about 1-1/4" too far back to line up with the crank pulley. So being the smart a$$ I am I turned the pulley around (pump is the keyed pulley Saginaw) but that makes the pulley 1" too far forward now. So do I need to change the entire pump assembly or just the pulley to match the BB setup?

Found the parts I needed today. And the answer is ........ the pumps are identical (at least for Saginaw type) but the brackets and pulleys are unique to BB or SB depending on your application.

same for both the Federal & saginaw , they are the same small or big block but use different pulleys & mounts
Glad you solved the problem , too bad reversing the pulley didn`t help

Ya know, i put one back on my car when i built it and i thought maybe i mixed it up with one of my uncles big block pumps... cause its got the open pulley, it fits fine though......  :dunno:
