It does not say N/A though either.  ;)

Since it was only availabe with the A66 package which was covered seperately, they apparently left that space blank?

I agree.  The 340 was intended to be in the A66 cars only so leaving it blank made the most sense.

Could you verify the production #'s you listed earlier?  My 6th edition white book shows more.  Also, are you aware of any non-A66 1970 340 Challengers?  Through your registry or buildsheets waiting for their owners?  Thanks!

So....would you say ALL 340s were A66 cars?

For 1970 Challengers either A66 or A53 for 340 cars.

The numbers I quoted were from the 4th edition.

Actually, the Yellow Jacket was the design exercise for the T/A.

It was just too expensive to produce in numbers.

The A66 vs. A53 code on the two pilot cars does bring a question to mind as far as the sales percentages go though.....

Were they counted as A66? A53? Or both maybe?  :clueless:

So the A53 code appeared on the two pilot cars only? The rest were A66?

340 four barrel Challengers were A66 package cars.

340 sixpak Challengers were A53 package cars. (T/As)

The two T/A pilot cars started life as A66 cars, but were modified and sold with options normally found (later on) on the A53 package cars.

If I understand you correctly the A53 was the code for the T/A and that number is pretty much know. All other 340's set in a Challenger, in the 1970 model year were A66's. No two barrels, flat hood, dog dish rim, plain Jane's had a 340? Thanks!
