The only wedge small blocks with solid cams from the factory are 273's.

Why do you need adjustabe rockers if it has hydraulic lifters?

T/A heads have offset rockers to clear the heads because the T/A heads were drilled different to allow for more porting. I guess it was cheaper for them to just cast adjustable rockers than stamp different rockers for those heads.

Possibly the offset pushrods with varing distances between the lifters and rockers have something to do with it.

Given the offset angle, I would guess any production variance in the rockers horizontal location (including wear later on) would change the lash enough to warrant adjustable rockers.
