Again with the Wiper questions!!
« on: July 07, 2008 - 11:43:25 PM »
I have a 70 Cuda, I have the switch #02770380 and I have the motor that at least looks like a intermittant motor with the numbers 3431905 / 73695 / 0174, I am trying to rescue this car and trying to wire these to together.  The big book is okay but I am lost on a couple of the wires.   It seems like the pink wire goes to the Terminal marked B, the washer wire goes to the terminal marked W, then I have terminals F1, F2, P, A and the strange one B/U
I have 4 wires Brown, Blue, Red and Green.  I have created a harness to go from the switch to the motor harness.  Any sugesstions?

The following is what's under the dash on a '70 Cuda
B/U doesn't get used.
Pink to B
Blue to P
Green to F2
Brown w/ stripe to A
Red to F-1 and
Brown to W
If you had the harnesses, the 4-wire connector would be Blue, Brown*, Pink, Brown and the two-wire connector would be Red, Green.

Now it gets into a grey area..  The motor you have is a 3-speed for a '74 A-body (according to the book).  The wires on its bulkhead connector might need to be switched around a little to make it work. I think that on the harness coming from the motor to the bulkhead connector the wires need to positioned as such:
Blue to the funny-shaped corner of the connector (slot #5 on wiring diagram)
Green under that (slot #6)
Brown next to the Blue (slot #1)
and Red under the Brown (and next to the Green) (slot #2)

When you're trying all this, the switch and the motor need to be GROUNDED or nothing will work.

Good Luck.  Let us know

Thanks a ton, I'll give a shot tomorrow night.  By the weekend I will post out the rather sad story of this car.  Thanks again.

This may help, I spent a whole day on my stupid wipers, found out I had a 2spd motor and 3 spd switch.    :bricks1:

And what looked to be a flasher relay plugged into two of the wires. This was on my old car, not the one I have now.

That isn't the variable-speed switch that Craig has, but your diagram should be really easy for him to follow. Nice job.
