Can you feel the difference from 323 to 355's?
« on: June 29, 2008 - 02:06:22 PM »
I Had 323's in my car----so/so.... I put 410's in it and loved it. I am sure it is good for maybe 2 tenths or more or better.  I put the 323's back in and wasn't happy.  I don't have to go over 3k on an interstate or cruisin.

I just had my dana 60 done, it has 354's in it. I am wondering if maybe I should step back up to 410's?  I used to run 11.98 with my 355's many years ago in my street car and a 440 with an automatic, but I had a 4500 turboaction stall and it took care of slow out the hole. I have a 4spd now, and 28" tall tires.

Just trying to get the low down before I install the rear. I may be doing a gear change

Al,

If you don't plan to highway cruise with this, and are just interested in racing it... it sounds like 4:10's are your ticket.   :grinyes:  The 3:54's sound like a nice compromise if you want to do a little of each.

I think there are aftermarket 3.73 or 3.91's available.

The stick won't be as bad as the auto on the highway - no converter slip.  You can always run 28" tires on the highway and 26" sticky tires at the track.

The goal never changes - Stop the 60' timer with your back tires

Kinda like that idea myself if you don't want to go back to a steep gear
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

Old hp mopars were really not intended for highway speeds unless they were equipted with 323 gears. I wont be interstate driving, I live in the country. So 60 is ok untill I need wot. But I will install the 354's for now and then latter swap to the 410's. I also like 391's in a bb street car. They work very good.  I always used a rule of the thumb, 3k while cruising whatever the speed with larger gears.
