whcih disc brake kit to buy???
« on: March 19, 2004 - 01:29:22 AM »
thanks for everyone's input on my manual vs. power brakes  poll, seems like i should stick with my manual.  now i'm shopping for disc kits, front and rear, and new brake lines.  i have never done anything like this before and i can use all the info i can get.  i will be working with another kid that has experience installing brake lines, etc, but never a 100% overhall like i have planned.  can anyone share experiences with specific brands of disc brake kits?  which are good?  someone mentioned wilwood and i like the look of installation tips/troubles?  what are all the parts tools i will need?

most of the Wilwood stuff is lighter stuff for drag racing , rotors may warp etc , I would look for heavier parts like Baer or SS , or adapt factory units using disc splindle & later 77-79 B body 12" discs

We just put on SSBC brakes.  Don't have the car running, so I can't tell you yet how good they are.  It was a pretty easy install...did it in a weekend.

Hey GP.  We did a conversion from power drums to discs all around.  Here is the specific url for what we got.

Here's some pics of ours.

Interesting.  If you go to their site and do a product search for a Plymouth Barracuda, the drop down box only shows kits available for years 1964 - 1969...

That's strange...what would the differences be between the two e-bodies on brakes?

In that case, I guess it was just a matter of them being lazy about adding links for the 70-74 Barracuda models.  Thanks.
