318 exhaust
« on: October 22, 2008 - 03:23:26 PM »
Having my Challenger coming over soon having a 318 with a need of a complete exhaustsystem I would like to ask if I could already
go for a 2,5" system since I'm planning for a 440 in the future or would that be to big for the 318?

A 2.5" system is fine for a 318. That's what I had on my old 318 cuda and it went maybe a tenth quicker with it unhooked and totally removed from the car with quiet mufflers. Probably some of the gain was from the weight reduction. I just bought a bunch of mandrel bends and welded it up myself. It had a crossover, not an X pipe which would be even better. It had some no-name 1.58" headers. Blackjack?? :2thumbs:

2.5" on a 318 is on the large side but I would recommend 2.25 , but it will be ok

The smallest TTI sells is 2.5".  It'll probably be hard to find a good exhaust system that's smaller than 2.5" unless you buy those parts store factory pipes with all the crappy non-mandrel bends that are kinked up from the bending machine.
